The boundary where the mind ends is where spiritual practice begins. This world is made up of five physical elements. Among these, the element of space is the subtlest. Due to its extreme subtlety, the existence of the space element is only established through the medium of sound. To understand this space element or its sound waves, a special type of scientific instrument is required. Apart from the space element, we can easily understand the remaining four elements with the help of our senses. God is even subtler than these five elements.
God transcends the mental or supermental realm. These five elements are mere manifestations of God. Therefore, it is impossible to reach God or universal consciousness through our mind alone. Thus, the mind often becomes frustrated because it is beyond the reach of human imagination. In other words, God cannot be attained through ordinary knowledge.
When established in divine bliss, the mind, intellect, and words all cease to exist because they are immersed in bliss, an impartial joy. Through the power of joy in self-consciousness, one must establish oneself. Upon reaching there, the mind becomes non-existent. Therefore, one is liberated from the six shackles of desire, anger, greed, attachment, arrogance, and jealousy.
That which is our goal, God, cannot be seen through the eyes. This subtle power cannot be understood through our senses. Due to their extreme subtlety, the senses are incapable of grasping atoms and molecules. Scientific instruments are needed to see the particles of matter. Similarly, God cannot be seen through these means. Yet, God is not invisible to seekers. They must practice austerity to see Him. Just as intellectual and scientific insight is needed to see atoms and molecules, spiritual insight is necessary to see God. In other words, God can only be attained through spiritual knowledge.
When one attains spiritual knowledge, all their sorrows and worries disappear. Why? Because the mind is the cause of both joy and sorrow, but God is beyond the superconscious level. They are ancient because they exist beyond time. Due to being established in spirituality, they do not depend on any other path. The ultimate goal of spirituality, which is to attain God, is the path of practice. This means advancing further based on one's own inner inspiration.
Dedicating oneself to the path of spirituality, one can succeed in attaining God. After attaining God, one transcends joy and sorrow. Mental distortions of pleasure and pain no longer reside within them. This state is called the state of bliss. The conclusion is that due to the limitations of the mind and intellect, we cannot understand God. For this, spiritual insight is necessary.
This spiritual insight is obtained through austerity and practice. Through spiritual knowledge, a person understands the difference between the ephemeral and the eternal and attains supreme joy through the attainment of God.
