The hidden guarantee of success is encapsulated in these Sanskrit verses; let's tie them into practice today!

Our scriptures reveal many profound secrets through verses that can guide a person towards success. So, let's discuss some Sanskrit verses along with their meanings in this article. If you internalize them, success will not be far from you.

To achieve success in life, a person needs to exert effort because they know that success means happiness and prosperity in life. Success brings joy and prosperity to a person's life, but besides hard work, dedication, and self-confidence, it is also essential for a person to recognize their qualities and use them correctly. Not everyone can grasp this profound mystery. Therefore, here are some verses from the scriptures that will help you in achieving success:

(1) काक चेष्टा बको ध्यानं, श्वान निद्रा तथैव च ।

     अल्पहारी गृह त्यागी, विद्यार्थी पंच लक्षणं ॥

"Kak chesta, bako dhyanam, shwan nidra tathaiva cha,

Alpahari, griha tyagi, vidyarthi pancha lakshanam."

This verse means that a student should possess these five characteristics - curiosity like a crow (kak), concentration like a crane (bako), sleep like a dog (shwan), light eating (alpahari), and detachment from home (griha tyagi).

(2) अमृतत्वस्य तु नाशास्ति वित्तेन ।

"Amritasya tu nashasti vitten."

Meaning, immortality cannot be achieved through wealth.

(3) उद्यमेन हि सिध्यन्ति कार्याणि न मनोरथैः।

     न हि सुप्तस्य सिंहस्य प्रविशंति मुखे मृगाः।

"Udyamena hi siddhyanti karyani na manorathaih,

Na hi suptasya simhasya pravishanti mukhe mrigah."

Meaning, success comes through effort, not mere wishes. Just as animals do not enter a sleeping lion's mouth, similarly, success does not come to those who are inactive.

4. उद्योगिनं पुरुषसिंहं उपैति लक्ष्मीः

दैवं हि दैवमिति कापुरुषा वदंति।

दैवं निहत्य कुरु पौरुषं आत्मशक्त्या

यत्ने कृते यदि न सिध्यति न कोऽत्र दोषः।

"Udyoginam purushasimham upaiti lakshmih

Daivam hi daivamiti kapurusha vadanti.

Daivam nihatya kuru paurusham atmashaktya

Yatne krte yadi na sidhyati na ko'tra doshah."

This means that hardworking and courageous individuals attain wealth. It is often said that destiny plays a role, but wise individuals assert that success is achieved through one's own effort and strength. If despite efforts success is not achieved, there is no fault in it.

5. अलसस्य कुतो विद्या अविद्यस्य कुतो धनम् ।

अधनस्य कुतो मित्रममित्रस्य कुतः सुखम् ॥

"Alasasya kuto vidya avidyasya kuto dhanam

Adhanasya kuto mitramamitrasya kutah sukham."

This verse means that laziness leads to ignorance, ignorance leads to lack of wealth, lack of wealth leads to no friends, and having no friends leads to no happiness. Therefore, in life, one must first eliminate the habit of laziness to achieve anything.

6. षड् दोषाः पुरुषेणेह हातव्या भूतिमिच्छता!

निद्रा तद्रा भयं क्रोधः आलस्यं दीर्घसूत्रता !!

"Shad doshah purusheneha hatavya bhutimicchata!

Nidra tadra bhayam krodhah alasyam deerghasutrata !!"

The meaning of this verse is that these six characteristics are sufficient to ruin a person – sleepiness, anger, fear, laziness, procrastination, and the habit of postponing work.

7. आ नो भद्राः क्रतवो यन्तु विश्वतोऽदब्धासो अपरीतास उद्भिदः।

देवा नोयथा सदमिद् वृधे असन्नप्रायुवो रक्षितारो दिवेदिवे॥

"Aa no bhadrah kratavo yantu vishvato'adbhaso apareetasa udbhidah.

Deva noyatha sadamid vrudhe asannaprayuvo rakshitaro divedive."

It means that we should always have beneficial thoughts coming from all directions, unobstructed, and bringing out unknown subjects. Devatas, like vigilant protectors, should always be ready for our growth and protect us day by day.
