Worldliness
is, at its core, a matter of the heart. If your heart is captured by the world,
you will love the things of the world. If your heart is captured by the love of
God, you will be drawn to Him and to the things of God. The only way that our
hearts can be transformed so that we love God is by the supernatural new birth.
God is love.
If God is love, then what we experience must be His whisperings. Laying aside
theological differences, love is the part of God, who sees the hearts of all
men, still prevalent in this world wreaking havoc on the status quo today. Love
is the urging of the Spirit moving through people, you and me, creating rays of
light from darkness. I'm no physicist, but I know this isn't supposed to make
sense.
I think it
is very important: that union with God. You must be full of silence, for in the
silence of the heart God speaks. An empty heart God fills. Even Almighty God
will not fill a heart that is full—full of pride, bitterness, jealousy—we must
give these things up. As long as we are holding these things, God cannot fill
it. Silence of the heart, not only of the mouth—that too is necessary—but more,
that silence of the mind, silence of the eyes, silence of the touch. Why?
Because God is everywhere and you can see and hear Him.
In cases
such as these, shame lies to us that our faith must not be enough, whispering,
If you feel pain, then you must not be healed. If you aren’t healed, you must
not have enough faith, or God doesn’t love you enough to heal you. If you feel
pain, your eyes must be on yourself, not on Christ. If you feel pain, God must
be disappointed in you.
In that day,
you must be secure in yourself as a valuable, meaningful, and unique child of
God. Otherwise, you may feel as though you faded with the din; as though your purpose
was lost when the last mic switched off. The loss of that false identity will
cause you even more sorrow. Do not cling to victimhood. Grasp at survival and
build a new life.
The desire
to seek the things of this world, usually, leads to sin and sin leads to death.
If you are a believer God has given us a new heart and we must show this gift
that God has given us. We must live like we have a new heart. We must put to
death the old ways that are in our heart and reveal the eternal life that God
has given us. We are the children of God and we must be apples from His tree.
Thinking of
the world as a whole, if every person lived faithfully by his or her God-given
conscience, that whisper in our hearts that tells us the difference between
good and evil and prods us to choose rightly, how different the world would be!
To follow our conscience is a fantastic beginning! But as Christians, God wants
to lead us even further. He has promised us the Holy Spirit, the Helper who
will guide us into all truth.
God is not
just the starting point of your life; he is source of it. To discover your
purpose in life you must turn to God’s Word, not the world’s wisdom. You must
build your life on eternal truths, not pop-psychology, success-motivation, or
inspirational stories. The Bible says, “It's in Christ that we find out who we
are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got
our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part
of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” This
verse gives us three insights into your purpose.
God does
speak to our hearts as He has spoken to so many young men and women before us.
He doescall, and He calls in a way that you, and only you, can understand. His
call is like the whisper of a friend. In order for us to hear the whisper of a
friend, we need to first have a friendship with that person, then we need to be
close to the other, in order to be able to hear his whisper and lastly, in
order to also understand the deep meaning of his whisper, not only do we need
to stand close to that person, but our hearts need to be close to that person
as well. I need to know him well, to understand the deep meaning of what he is
saying.
Keep your heart
with all diligence. Maintain a devotional, PERSONAL relationship with the Lord,
not just an intellectual relationship. Ten thousand volumes of KNOWLEDGE is not
what you need. You need a PERSONAL knowledge of a PERSONAL God. The lowly,
humble-hearted believer who knows His God is far better off than the
intellectually brilliant rabbi of all rabbis. The little child who lets God be
God is far better off than the most brilliant professor in the largest seminary
of the world who is not believing.
