You did not need to be religious to find your spirituality

Many people call themselves spiritual by making an impression on others that they are not materialistic or superficial. Spirituality is essentially a search for life’s meanings from a non-religious perspective. Spirituality is known to be a state that can reach higher levels of consciousness if one regularly practices yoga, meditation, and similar other practices.

Spirituality is a very broad perspective. When we are in search for greater meaning in life, practicing spirituality gives a sense of connection that is larger than ourselves. Spirituality touches us from deep within ourselves. Spiritual experiences are often described as experiences that are sacred, interconnected and transcendent while giving a feeling of just being alive.

There are many ways of practicing spirituality – some people prefer to follow established doctrines or teachers and some prefer to find their spirituality within their own nature and in day to day activities. While some people may also find their spirituality in places of worship or religion such as temples, churches, mosques or to God, there are others that seek it through their connection with nature, music, work or art. Throughout one’s lifespan, their definition of spirituality also tends to keep changing in most people.

Spirituality is an attitude that helps people opting for a spiritual approach to life. Spirituality gives us an ability to think beyond ourselves and reach out to others. Spirituality involves selfless work. It is rightly said, “It is in giving that you receive.” Most of us feel that the joy of giving is far more than that of receiving. Integrity, inner voice, and integration are the distinct values reflected by spirituality.
