Do not try to fix whatever comes in your life. Fix yourself in such a way that whatever comes, you will be fine.

Do not try to fix whatever comes in your life. Fix yourself in such a way that whatever comes, you will be fine.

Fiction takes that next step. All you have to do is live the same life you are living now, and when you experience something that strikes you, let your imagination take the situation way the hell too far. All storytelling comes down to is asking yourself, "what if…" It's simply reality, and then sometimes dragons.

When it comes to goodness, I’ve always thought it to be an inside job. We each have to figure it out for ourselves. But to fix the inside you have to look outside for examples of people who have the answer to whatever problem is vexing you as a guy: depression, addiction, marriage, fatherhood, meaning.

Do you offer platitudes like, "I hope everything will work out"? Unfortunately, this is just a way of disengaging or checking out of a difficult situation. True hope comes from a source much deeper, your core. At your core, there are vital qualities that help to determine how much hope you yourself feel, as well as what you can offer to others. Hope is an essential component in facing any type of uncertainty, from layoffs, to promotions, to moving, and to the current state of the world.

Nobody knows what your plans are. Nobody cares what you know. If you don't do something, it isn't real. You wanted to send flowers to your girlfriend but ended up not doing it for whatever reason? Well, you did no action. Your thoughts have no impact. So do something. Make your ideas materialize in the world. Do it! I don't want to say motivational writers are a bad entity that wants to harm you, in fact most of them try to give good advice even if they do want you to come back. The problem is you. You are the one that is tricking yourself, and only you can change it.

Take yourself out. go on a trip with yourself. read books, eat ice cream, go to the art museum, spend time chasing your dreams not people, follow your passion, make time to meditate, get in the shape. fall in love with yourself, make some good breakfast for yourself, trust yourself, you are the only person who is never gonna cheat on you. Self-esteem is the startup of the confidence. Confidence can take you from beginner to professional. Not everyone is going to love you but you can always love yourself.

Writing is not supposed to make you feel negative about yourself. Your passion has to be a door for your creativity and productivity. Your passion must serve as a main source of inspiration, catharsis, and a big part of your self-identity. Yes, it has to be difficult and challenging every once in a while. No, it is impossible for such a hobby to come free of hardships. But what we should not be doing is normalizing and romanticizing the constant mental/nervous/emotional breakdowns and feelings of self-doubt and self-loathing that many writers experience along with these challenges.

However, at the end of the day it comes down to persevering through the turmoil and being patient that your vision will come true as long as you continue to make progress towards your desired end result. It may mean missing parties, working overtime, or possibly even getting 5 hours of rest a night, 5 times a week. Yet, if that's the price you pay to make your dreams of being a better developer a reality, it's worth every sacrifice.
