These Are Nostradamus’ Predictions

Michel de Nostredame, better known by his Latinized name Nostradamus, was a French philosopher, physician, and a reputed seer. He is known for his 1555 book Les ProphĂ©ties, which contains 942 poetic quatrains that some believe predicted future events. So what did Nostradamus think we have in store for us in 2021, and will he prove to be correct in his predictions?

California Earthquake

According to Nostradamus’ text: “The par full of rocks and great disaster, through the West and Lombardy, the fire in the ship, the plague and captivity, Mercury in Sagittarius, Saturn fading. People have interpreted this to mean that California is the land in the West, and that there will be a strong and powerful earthquake, which wouldn’t be so farfetched as they are pretty common in the state.

Rise Of The Living Dead

Nostradamus claimed that a virus will accidentally be unleashed onto the world from a Russian scientist and would cause people to become half dead monsters. He continues: “the disease makes them a monster, the ruler will be no more, the whole world must end.” So will this be a zombie apocalypse?

The CDC’s Guidelines

Some viral posts have circulated around the web, claiming that the Centers for Disease Control has provided guidelines on how to deal with the supposed upcoming zombie apocalypse. However, while the CDC does have a “Zombie Preparedness” page on its website, it is merely a tongue in cheek approach to provide a practical guide for hurricane, earthquake, flood, and other natural disasters preparedness.

Religious Struggle

Nostradamus also predicted that this year will include a struggle between major world religions, more specifically Christianity and Islam. Though there seems to be a hint at an ethnic struggle, there is no specific direction as to how this would go down. Many experts have disagreed about this specific prediction.

Finally A Cure

Many have interpreted Nostradamus’ line: “humanity will put an end to its great flu, the day is coming when we will no long be tied down by the medical black, the great east and west will come together and

pave the way to a healthy future” means a cure for cancer. What’s more likely is that we will be rid of coronavirus, or at least enough to be able to open up the world again.

Solar Storms

According to Nostradamus: “We shall see the water rising and the earth falling under it.” He predicted that solar flares will impact the earth. It’s not so farfetched to imagine, as climate change has severely impacted many areas of the earth, causing natural disasters previously not imagined, and increased extinctions in nature.

A Great Famine

In 1959, the Great Leap Forward Famine took place in China, lasting until 1961 and resulting in between 15-55 million deaths. This was the worst famine in history. Nostradamus has predicted that another great famine will take place, and that it will surpass any that may have preceded it.

An Asteroid Close Call

Another one of Nostradamus’ 2021 predictions is that an asteroid or comet will come uncomfortably close to hitting the earth. This could lead to natural disasters and “in the sky, one sees fire and a long trail of sparks.” In 2013, the Chelyabinsk meteor hit the earth in Russia, causing about $33 million worth of damage and injuring nearly 1500 people.

A New Kind Of Currency

In another of Nostradamus’ quotes, he says that people will refuse paying taxes to a “king.” Many have interpreted this as a prediction about the rise of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Perhaps thanks to

investment in Bitcoin, many will become wealthy, and there will be a transfer of wealth in the world. Still, it’s a bit of a stretch to say that he predicted this.

Catholic Church Disaster

Another of Nostradamus’ quatrains says: “By March will be thwarted the monarchy of the great fisherman will be in ruinous trouble.” Some have interpreted as meaning that the Pope will be in grave danger and perhaps even hurt, causing social unrest an riots, and maybe the fall of the Catholic Church.

The Third Antichrist

He also predicted the coming of the third antichrist: “the antichrist very soon annihilates the three, twenty-seven years his way will

last.” Allegedly, religious extremists will consider him a religious leader and will blindly follow him.

Another Ice Age

Another quatrain reads: “the earth and air will freeze a very great sea.” Perhaps he predicted climate change, but many have

interpreted this as a prediction of another ice age is coming. Some have even claimed that solar activity may be reduced by 60% at around 2030.

French Revolution

Nostradamus predicted: “from the enslaved populace, songs, chants, and demands, while princes and lords are held captive in prisons, these will in the future by headless idiots be received as divine prayers.” The French Revolution took place in 1789, when the peasants took over and the aristocracy was toppled, locked in the Bastille, and later behead the the guillotine.

Napoleon

Did Nostradamus predict the rise of Napoleon? He wrote: “PAU, NAY, LORON will be more of fire than of the blood, to swim in the praise, the great one to flee to the confluence. He will refuse entry to the Piuses, the depraved ones and the Durance will keep them imprisoned.” If you rearrange the capitalized letters, you get Napualon Roy, French for Napoleon the King. The line about fire and blood could possibly refer to his non-noble lineage.

Louis Pasteur

Nostradamus predicted the success of microbiologist Louis Pasteur in his quatrain: “The lost thing is discovered, hidden for many

centuries. Pasteur will be celebrated almost as a God-like figure.” Pasteur is best remembered for his many accomplishments including the principles of vaccination, pasteurization (which is named after him), and fermentation.

Adolf Hitler

Many people believe that Nostradamus predicted Hitler’s birth and actions with the quatrain: “From the depths of the West of Europe, a young child will be born of poor people, he who by his tongue will seduce a great troop, his fame will increase towards the realm of the East.” Hitler was born to poor parents in Germany and was known for his oratory skills that convinced his followers to do his bidding.

Charles De Gaulle

Nostradamus wrote: “Hercules King of Rome and of Annemark, three times one surnamed de Gaulle will lead, Italy and the one of St. Mark’s to tremble, first monarch, renowned above all.” Charles de Gaulle was a leader in France three times: as leader of the Free French Forces, as prime minister of the post-WWII government, and as the first president of the French Fifth Republic.

The Atomic Bomb

Nostradamus wrote: “Near the gates and within two cities, there will be scourges the like of which was never seen, famine within plague, people put out by steel, crying to the great immortal God for relief.” In August 1945, the United States unleashed the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in Japan.

JFK & RFK Assassinations

Nostradamus predicted: “The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt, an evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition. According to the prediction, another falls at night time.” John F. Kennedy, who had received many death threats, was assassinated during the afternoon of November 22nd, 1963. Meanwhile, his brother Bobby was killed after midnight on June 5th, 1968.

Debunked – The Challenger Explosion

Nostradamus wrote: “From the human flock nine will be sent away, separated from judgment and counsel, their fate will be sealed on departure, Kappa Thita, Lambda the banished dead err.” The Space Shuttle Challenger blew up when it was just 73 seconds into its flight on January 28th, 1986. Though it seems like Nostradamus predicted this, his prediction is quite generalized. Also, only seven people were aboard the shuttle, not nine.

Debunked – Princess Diana’s Death

Many have tried to link Nostradamus’ quatrain: “God the Last but First the nickname of Nostradamus of the 90’s, takes the Goddess of the Moon for his Day and movement, a frantic wanderer and witness of Gods Law, in awakening the worlds great regions to Gods will,” to Princess Diana’s death. There are many theories about this, but there is no clear link that can prove this predicted her death.

Debunked – September 11th

Although this Nostradamus quote went viral: “Two steel birds will fall from the sky on the Metropolis, The sky will burn at forty-five degrees latitude Fire approaches the great new city Immediately a huge, scattered flame leaps up Within months, rivers will flow with blood The undead will roam the earth for little time.,” he did not actually predict the attacks on September 11th, 2001. It turns out that this specific quatrain blended some of Nostradamus’ words with someone else’s, in order to show how predictions can be twisted to fit any event.

Why Debunked?

One of the main issues with Nostradamus’ prophecies is that experts often disagree about what his writings actually mean. There tends to be little to no agreement about the meaning of his works.

Pretty Vague

The other issue is that Nostradamus’ writing, which was written in Middle French, often uses vague wording, metaphors, and obscure references. Every translation of his Centuries book is so different, it is really difficult to determine what exactly he meant in each of his quatrains.

True Or False?

Since so many of the interpretations are different and varied, this helps “prove” that his predictions are true, since any interpretation can be used as support for the historical evidence. The problem is, it’s still just an interpretation, not a fact.
