When Does Sawan 2024 Begin? Key Dates and Festivals
Sawan, also known as Shravana in the Hindu calendar, is a month dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. This period is not just about the monsoon but also about devotion and fasting. In 2024, Sawan will start on July 22 and end on August 19. Notably, this year's Sawan begins on a Monday, which is considered highly auspicious.
A significant aspect of this year's Sawan is that it includes five Mondays, which are particularly important for the worship of Lord Shiva. Many devotees observe fasts on these Mondays to fulfill their wishes. Additionally, some women observe the 16 Monday Vrat starting from Sawan and continue it until the end of the period, seeking a desired spouse.
The Sawan Shivratri this year will begin on August 2 at 3:26 PM and end on August 3 at 3:50 PM. This day is sacred for the worship of Lord Shiva, and the fast is observed during the Nishita Kala (midnight).
