Awakening the Hunger for Divine Love through Satsang!

A human being can live a peaceful and content life if they truly choose to. But the habit of being sorrowful and distressed has grown so deep that even in moments of joy, the mind searches for pain. We have forgotten the very purpose of our existence. We keep doing everything except what we are meant to do. It’s as if we have lost our true identity.

Just like a scientist designs a device for a specific purpose and the device functions accordingly, the human body and mind too are designed for a divine purpose — to seek and connect with the Divine. So, why does it feel so difficult for humans to realize God? It shouldn't be. In fact, it is as natural as feeling hunger. And when the hunger for God arises within, love for the Divine naturally follows.

But how do we awaken this hunger for the Divine? There is only one sure way — Satsang, the company of saints and spiritually awakened beings. Sitting near a saint, listening to spiritual discourses, our heart begins to absorb the subtle energy that such presence radiates. The day your eyes well up with tears while listening to such truths, know that the hunger for the Divine has been born within you.

Life is short, and in this brief span, there is much to be done. A true seeker knows they have no time to waste. In my eyes, a real saint is one who, through their words, presence, and very being, awakens the longing for Divine love in you. If, while listening to satsang, a sense of love begins to bloom within you — if you feel the stirrings of that sacred hunger — then you can truly say, "I have fallen in love."

Once love for God takes root, even the joys and sorrows, honor and dishonor, gains and losses, praise and blame — all are seen as gifts from the Beloved. The devotee accepts them all with grace and joy. Those who complain or resist are the ones who do not know love. True lovers of the Divine have no complaints. They smile through pleasure and pain alike. Even in humiliation, they remain inwardly joyful.

In times of sorrow, the truth of friendship is revealed. A true friend is one who wipes your tears in moments of pain. A true devotee is one whose very breath remembers the Beloved. A devotee prays, “O Lord, bless me in such a way that even if I wish to forget You, I cannot. Let Your grace be such that Your memory never leaves my soul.
